The Future of AI Agents in Event Marketing: 5 Predictions for 2026–2027
Five predictions for the future of AI agents in event marketing over the next 18–24 months. Some are already happening at the leading edge. Others are directional — but if your team is building toward them now, you'll be ahead when they arrive.
1. The death of the standalone event app
Attendees are downloading 14 apps a month and abandoning 12. By late 2027, expect the dominant pattern to be agent-led experiences delivered in attendees' existing channels — WhatsApp, iMessage, email — rather than bespoke event apps. The app vendors that survive will pivot to becoming the infrastructure powering these channel-native agents.
2. Dynamic AI-driven ticket pricing
Airlines and hotels have priced dynamically for decades. Events have stubbornly remained flat-rate. AI agents will change this — pricing tiers will flex in real time based on demand signals, attendee value score, ABM target list membership, and even live competitor event scheduling. Expect early adopters by mid-2027.
3. AI speaker avatars for post-event Q&A
Speakers will increasingly deploy AI avatars — trained on their published work, transcripts, and recorded interviews — to engage with attendees post-event. Asking your favourite keynote speaker a follow-up question at 11pm three weeks later will become normal. The legal and ethical frameworks around this are still emerging.
4. Agent-to-agent commerce
The most provocative prediction: by 2027, expect to see sponsor agents negotiating directly with attendee agents. Your attendee's AI will know they need a CRM upgrade and will autonomously engage the sponsor's AI to qualify fit and schedule a human-to-human follow-up. This sounds like sci-fi. It is six quarters away.
5. Persistent attendee identity across event portfolios
Today, attending three events in a year means filling in three registration forms, three preference questionnaires, three sets of dietary requirements. By 2027, expect "portable attendee profiles" — owned by the attendee, shared selectively with events — to become the norm. RainFocus's "Global Attendee Record" is the early sign of this. The events that win will be the ones that make the data exchange feel respectful, not extractive.
The question that actually matters
The question isn't whether to deploy AI agents. It's whether you'll deploy them before your competitor does.
